The Venice of the North

Guided tour - half day

Bruges is a heartbreaking city, a beauty hidden in the flat fields of Flanders. Every stone reminds us of the glorious past of this harbour, which was many centuries ago connected to the sea by an inlet. The belfry is overlooking the market square, where merchants sold cloth, produced with wool imported from England. The Burgundians gave the finishing touch and made it the cultural capital of their territories. At the end of the fifteenth century Bruges started its long hibernation....until it was discovered by the numerous tourists. of Flanders, the butchers hall, the belfry and the town hall. We also visit the cathedral.
Return to Brussels (station or hotel or city centre).

You meet the guide in your hotel or at the station or at the bus garage in Bruges. He will lead you through the streets of Bruges partially on foot and partially by boat on the canals. We see the beguinage, the church of Our Lady with the Madonna of Michelangelo, the old historic St. John’s hospital, the belfry, the burg square, the town hall, Gruuthuze palace and the basilica of the Holy Blood.
